Financial & Eligibility Agreements

Eligibility Requirements:

•You must be in possession of a valid passport with an expiration date 6 months or more beyond the end of your time at an international program. You must provide a color copy of the photo ID page to our office as soon as possible. Feel free to come by the office and we will make a copy of your passport for you. U.S. citizens may obtain a passport application on the U.S. Department of State website (http://travel.state.gov). If you are not a U.S. citizen, you are responsible for all appropriate visas, however, we will assist in your application process upon request.

Fee Statement:

•The application fee is $500 and must accompany this application form. After submitting this application, you will need to return to the Scholars Abroad page on Harding's website and follow the appropriate link to make your payment.

•The application fee is forfeited if the student withdraws from a program after October 28, 2023.

•The student is liable for all non-recoverable funds once airline tickets and/or other travel expenses are purchased. These purchases will be made after the October 28, 2023 payment is due.

•Though all basic travel and living expenses are covered in these payments, any additional spending for souvenirs is your responsibility.

Travel requirements for non-U.S. citizens:

• Citizens of other countries who wish to participate in an international program may require additional documentation and visas. Please consult with International Programs staff upon delivery of your study abroad application.

Change of plans policies:

What happens to my international programs application fee?

The application fee is held for you and applied to the cost of your participation in an International Program. If you cancel your participation after the October 28, 2023 payment is due, you will forfeit your application fee and you will be responsible for all expenses that we accumulate on your behalf. This can include deposits, travel tickets and other non-recoverable expenses.

Can I switch from one program to another or from one semester to another?

Yes, you can. Please fill out the appropriate transfer form on our website.

If I drop out of one of the programs can I rejoin later if I change my mind?

Yes, please submit a new application to study abroad. If you previously forfeited an application fee by canceling after the travel payment deadline, an additional application fee will not be collected.

What if I have to drop out of a program because of health reasons?

Please come and talk to us about this. These situations are handled on a case-by-case basis. We may request that your physician communicate with us about your situation.

I acknowledge that, from the moment this application is processed, I may be liable for any charges incurred by the International Programs office on my behalf to prepare Scholars Abroad for my arrival. I also acknowledge that the $500 application fee is only refundable until October 28, 2023; after that, it is no longer refundable. I acknowledge my unconditional acceptance to Harding is required before my participation in Scholars Abroad.
